Disabling power management on WD My Passport USB HDD
I've read a number of posts that discouraged the use of Western Digital external USB HDDs because their power management functionality would interfere with backup or other time-intensive file transfer...
I've read that the Western Digital "SmartWare" software can be used to disable power management on other WD external USB HDDs. You can check the WD support site to see what software is available to download for your model: http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp
