DLNA Sort Order
Thinking about buying a ReadyNAS RND2000 for 2 reasons:-
1. Backing up my personal files to a RAID 1 solution and backing this up to external HD
2. Streaming video, music and pictures to my Sony BPD-S570 Blu-Ray player (and connected Panasonic TV)
Item 1 is a no-brainer, I'm sure RND2000 will do this.
Item 2 should work fine. I can stream from one of my Windows PCs, but I'm looking for a solution that removes the PCs (having to boot up just to watch a video or look at some pics is a pain).
I had a brief 'flirtation' with a D-Link DNS-320 which sort of worked, but often had to be rebooted in order for the BPD-S570 to see it, and, and this is a BIG pain, the media was not in alphabetical order! Not too much of a problem with video files as I organise them, but a real pain with pics and music!
Can you ensure me that I will not get this 'random' sort order with a ReadyNAS?
Thanks.

- SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertWe do support several different sort criteria. The sort criteria should be requested by the client, but some DLNA servers don't support it, so it just gets ignored. I don't have any personal experience with the BPD-S570, but I have used a BDP-S370 and it sorted alphabetically. I also have a late-model Sony DLNA TV that sorts properly. So I'm pretty sure you won't have an issue. If you do, post back here and I'm sure we can get it resolved.
