Drive Failure Question
3 days ago I got a message that one of my 1.5 TB Seagate drives had failed in my NV+. I swapped out the drive for a new one and after 24 hours FV is telling me things are ok.
I took the bad drive and put it in a sata dock, deleted all the partitions and created a simple 1.5 TB volume. The drive seems to be fine.
Was the alert from FV faulty? I am going to run some seatools utilities to test the drive but it seems to be working fine.

- Running Seatools will be a good idea, this will diagnose the disk and give you information if it is bad or not. Sometimes the nas reports it bad to avoid any possible disk failure in the future even if the drive is still ok. SMART tool being used by the nas is more of a preventive diagnostic tool.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeBe sure to run the long generic test with SeaTools. It will take about two hours, but must be run on a drive directly connected to the motherboard, not in a dock, adapter or enclosure.
- dminches1AspirantI ran the Gsmart control long test (seatools kept crashing during the test) and it reported no errors. I guess I can conclude that the drive is ok.
- I think so too.
