Drive failure
My ReadyNAS 1100 (4.1.10) lost power the other day. When it regained power and booted back up it said one of my new 2TB drives was dead. I rebooted it and told it to perform a volume scan on next boot. It came back up and now home page shows it sees all 4 disks but RAIDar still shows the volume status as yellow and 4th disk which had previuosly said was dead has a red x on it.
Volume C: Online, RAID Level 5, 4 disks, 19% of 5554 GB used
On the volume settings page it lists all for disks but the 4th disk has a red & yellow + on it and it doesn't show any disk space allocated like it does for the other disks:
Configuration: RAID Level 5, 4 disks
Status: Not redundant. A disk failure will render this volume dead.
RAID Disks:
Ch 1 : Seagate ST32000641AS [1863 GB] 1860 GB allocated
Ch 2 : Seagate ST32000641AS [1863 GB] 1860 GB allocated
Ch 3 : Seagate ST32000641AS [1863 GB] 1860 GB allocated
Ch 4 : Seagate ST32000641AS [1863 GB]
Does this indicate the disk4 is still bad or does it just mean I will need to re-add it into my raid5? Since I have a raid5 and not x-raid will I have to delete my raid and re-create it?

- HERBIEOAspirantIn RAIDar if you click on the help button at the bottom it will bring up a help screen if you look there it shows RAIDar LED Legend
i think yellow LED is The device has failed or is in a state where it needs attention.
and green with red/yellow cross is Inactive spare (This disk is a spare disk on standby. If a disk fails, this disk will take over automatically). - briggs1AspirantOkay, so it sounds like I have a spare disk in standby. And the yellow light on my Volume means it is in a state that needs attention. Previously I had all 4 disks in the RAID 5 and all of my lights were green. To fix this I guess I'll have to delete my raid and re-create it with all 4 disks....losing all of my data.

Did you try removing the disk and then reinserting it (with the NAS running)?briggs wrote: Okay, so it sounds like I have a spare disk in standby.
