The combination EDA500 and StarTech.com 2-port SATA 6 Gbit/s PCI Express eSATA (PEXESAT32) WORKS!!!
But if you connect the second EDA500 to the second port of the PCI, it does NOT work.
Good luck to you all.
Thanks for the responses!

I guess the EDA500 eSATA port has a port-multplier functionality. So maybe I can combine the Startech® 2 Port PCI-Express eSATA Controller Adapter Card (PEXESATA2) with the EDA500?

I almost sure it has, but can somebody confirm the eSATA port of the EDA500 has port-multplier functionality?
I ordered the EDA500 for a very good price and also ordered the Startech® 2 Port PCI-Express eSATA Controller Adapter Card (PEXESATA2).
I will receive it next week, hopefully...

EDA500 is not a NAS, it's an expansion chassis.
And among the ReadyNAS models you listed, only the RN312 is compatible.

Maybe you want to look at purchasing a DAS, which sounds closer to want you're looking for.
