Email hyperlinks to videos on RN 104
I have several people that work remotely but upload large video files to an ftp share on my ReadyNAS 104. I would like to create individual hyperlinks to these files so I can email them our to others so they can download them and view on their computers without ftp'ing into my ReadyNAS. Optionally would also need these files to stream on iOS devices without anybody having to install or purchase anything. Any ideas?
Thank you

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIts pretty easy to send the hyperlink. If your NAS is set up for https on port XXXXX, then the link is
https://ddnsdomainname:XXXXX/sharename/filename
Though that would allow anyone to see all the videos using https://ddnsdomainname:XXXXX/sharename
The streaming aspect might not be possible. What format are the videos? - primevistaAspirantThanks for the quick reply, StephenB. Generally all the videos are QT .movs but there's the odd .mp4.
Where would I find the ddnsdomainname? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIf people are connecting over the internet, then they need a domain name.
The easiest way to get one is to use a ddns service. Some have a limited free service.
Once you sign up, you can either configure your router to register with it (many routers have this feature), or you run an application on a PC. The on-going registration is required because your ISP will change your internet IP address from time to time.
Though if people are already using FTP for upload over the internet, they must be using a DNS name of some sort. That name would also work (take out the ftp part, and use https instead). - primevistaAspirantYes we have a domain name and a static IP so all this should be doable.
Thanks again! - primevistaAspirantI've managed to get streaming videos working on PCs but they will not stream to iOS or Android devices. I have loaded the files onto an iPhone through iTunes and confirmed they work but it just says "Loading" forever. One of the videos was less than a meg and should have played almost immediately so it's not that it wasn't loaded yet.
Any ideas?
