ESATA dock compatible with RN316?
Does anyone have an external ESATA dock working correctly? Specifics of Model number would be good to know. I have a NexStar NST-D300SU3 ESATA & USB3 dock which is not working properly via ESATA...

Hardware compatibility list is the only list we check if we have questions about 3rd party hardware. Some 3rd party devices may or may not work, some would work but there is no guarantee that it would be reliable.
Hopefully someone who tried this would respond to you. I responded just to keep your topic active again.

The problem is there are no esata devices or category on the list.
Anyway, still hoping others will respond to help the wider community. I did a lot of searching here but didn't find much other esata info.
As per my second post, it seems to be working ATM.
It (RN316) couldn't do the initial NTFS format, but backup worked once formatted on PC.
I've now plugged it via USB3, format worked, and re-doing backup for speed comparison.
Once finished I will see if it can format via ESATA, to see if it was an initialisation issue, or every time.
For the record. As I said;

Which now seems to work properly via ESATA.
It had difficulty with an initial NTFS format, but since the first format via a PC, format and backup on the RN316 via both USB3 & ESATA work fine. I'll test another fresh disc when I get one, to see if it was a once off.
Backup of 1.3TB of identical data to a freshly formatted 3TB 3.5" disc took;
6h 35m via USB3,
5h 08m via ESATA. (less overhead in the protocol I believe)
