Expansion slot in Infrant Readynas
Hi There,
I've got an older Infrant Readynas with the PCI expansion slot. I'm wondering if it is possible to put a gigabit NIC in that slot and how to then configure the device to gigabit speeds. I've recently upgraded the rest of my network to all gigabit.
Is it possible? How do I configure?
Many Thanks,
Jeff

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe NIC that comes standard in the ReadyNAS is gigabit, I believe.
An Intel PCI gigabit NIC should work.
Also have a read of this: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=149109#p149109chirpa wrote: Some Intel chipset NICs may work, but not supported by us. But if you are just hoping to put a NIC in there to go faster than the internal NIC, it will probably be slower overall going through the PCI bus and not through the NSP chip directly. Using the PCI NIC is only good if the onboard NIC no longer functions (viewtopic.php?p=95921#p95921).
