Most home users will store their photos and financial information of their unit. That is what we mean my critical/important information. If it only has music or videos pulled from CDs and DVDs that you still have, then it would be an inconvenience if you lost it all and had to re-rip it, but if it the baby photos of your now 10 year old, that's a different matter.
