Front Panel and RAIDar have conflicting info
Hey Gang:
So my client has a Ready NAS Pro 6, using 3 in a RAID 5. We had gotten word that Drive 3 had Failed, and Drive 1 was in Predictive Failure. So we got 2 new drives for them.
I replaced the Failed Drive 3, no big whoop... front panel says "Resyncing"... however I can no longer communicate with it via the /admin page in the browser. Documentation says I ought to be able to, but I can't.
Fired up RAIDar, and it found this Ready NAS Pro, and it shows all 3 drives online (none blinking like its syncing) but a yellow dot for the Volume. "setup" just tried to launch the web gui, but still it fails.
Is this expected behavior? or does it seem like something's wrong?
I'd just like some way to monitor the re-sync, if I can...
Thanx!

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat do you see if you hover the mouse over the volume LED?
- John_MansiAspirantAll 3 were green, indicating online.
However a re boot seems to have resolved it... but now I have a new issue.
now that failed 3 has been replaced and looking good, I want to replace the 'predictive' failing Drive 1.
When I remove Drive 1, the NAS goes unresponsive, and when I reboot it after installing the new drive, it finds no volumes.
Re-installing the soon-to-fail drive restores the volumes, but I'm still left with SMART errors telling me to replace Drive 1.
Why am I losing my volumes? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserNormally you would hot-swap the bad drive, not shut down/reboot.
- John_MansiAspirantI am hot-swapping... but removing Drive 1 seems to kill the NAS. no front panel display and won't show up in RAIDar.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeDo you have a current and complete backup?
