FXP support (toggle of AllowForeignAddress in proftpd)
Would be nice to have this as a togglable option as to not need to enable SSH to modify it.

- LichonAspirantI just tested this, and didnt work for me. But then again, I didnt think it would since this is an advanced FTP feature , since most basic FTP features are missing from the built-in FTP server.
+1 support - LoverAspirantIt would be nice to have FXP support. Hope that in the future Netgear will enable it if possible.
+1 support
Regards. - veehexxAspirantwhile i dont currently use FTP, FXP would be on my list of 'must haves' for any FTP server/client.
+1 for me as circumstances may change.... - F_L_TutorThis would be great, +1
- FLNasUserAspirantFXP currently works if you change the AllowForeignAddress to "on". It requires you to use FTP on a different port than 21 however
- KillercAspirantCheers for the info about the port change part being required, FXP up and running here just by adding the needed "AllowForeignAddress on" and changing the port to anything not 21. :)
- bedwardsnexlearAspirantCan someone direct me to the instructions covering how to enable FXP on a ReadyNAS Pro from foreign clients, please? I don't know how to set this AllowForiegnAddress flag to 'on'. TIA

I would guess it's the file called "proftpd.conf" in /etc?
You would need to SSH in.- bedwardsnexlearAspirantWell that's nice. I have to break the EULA to be able to move files from one share to another via FTP (no, a Backup won't do because this is a random need)? Oy vey. Oh well, thanks for the response.
Nice avatar, btw! Hilarious! :D bedwardsnexlearn wrote: Well that's nice. I have to break the EULA to be able to move files from one share to another via FTP (no, a Backup won't do because this is a random need)? Oy vey. Oh well, thanks for the response.

The warranty thing is a bit of grey area. Although they say support will be denied, they are covering their backs in case someone were to SSH in and totally blatt the ReadyNAS OS and then expect support to be able to recover their one and only backup of their precious data/photographs. The user must take some responsibility once they start altering off the shelf products. Maybe see if somebody can give you a definitive answer on whether your situation would indeed revoke the warranty?
You could maybe ask a Dev' if they could release the option in an advanced FTP addon? (WhoCares? or Super_Poussin, maybe?) There may even be something available already, I haven't looked.
