That sounds like something that would be very dangerous.
You are best to ask an expert on UPS systems (and other systems) about an appropriate solution for your environment which takes into account your regular lengthy power outages.

You can daisy-chain a couple of UPS to get longer run time.
A generator is of course another option, which could provide power for the house generally.

not just any car battery, you need a AGM sealed battery, regualr car batteries need some where to vent and will release poisionous gas if not vented properly
