You looked at the wrong sticker. There should be other stickers showing the model number which could be e.g. RR2304, RN2120, RN3130, RN3138 etc. (those are rackmount model numbers, I'm guessing you have a rackmount unit).
The model would also show in RAIDar or in the web admin page of the NAS.
You may need to use the drive tray screws with this 8TB disk. The layout of drives has changed so with some high capacity disks the toolless insert doesn't work like it does for smaller capacity disks.

Based on googling, I think it's an RR2304. Information on the disk tray is on page 79 here: https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RN2120/ReadyNAS_OS6_Rackmount_HWM_EN.pdf

There should have been screws supplied with the NAS - do you have them?

Not sure what you mean, as the drive is screwed into the caddy. It should latch when you insert it into the NAS and close the front piece.

i severely regret buying this and it is very unfortunate. my only option here is too put in unsecured and hope i never have to take the drive out again because i would have to remove from rack and open up to get the drive out. i really do not get it. like i am actually thinking of calling the consumer protection agaency because this is a clearly defaulted design and should not be marketed.

There are small drive tray screws that would have come with your unit (needed for e.g. using a 2.5" SSD). You may only be able to secure the disk with two screws and you'd need the toolless tray insert to be removed when doing this. It should definitely fit.
The model may actually be on the bottom of the unit. I only have a few rackmount units and rarely look at them, but the model number would be there somewhere. In any case it's much easier to look the model up in the web admin interface or in RAIDar.
