Hot swap readynas nv+ problem
Hi All, Bit streesed here. Drive 3 faling so installed new drive. No email sent re swap or resync. Leds 2 & 3 now blinking alternativly about every sec. Lcd screen show use & capacity Cant logo...

Will try again but Raidar was not finding NAS.
Just a thought, should a brand new drive be formated in PC first?

No. The NAS will format it.

OK so I've reinstalled old drive 3 and all back up working.
Radiar ok
frontend ok
the log error said 'blinking disk 3' (so was disk 2)
I will try again to swap but maybe a cold swap this time after full backup :)
Doesthe readynas nv+ box have a use by date, guess there getting a bit ancient?

The NV+ was launched in 2007, and Netgear discontinued manufacturing in 2011. The final firmware was released in 2017. So the "use by" date is expired.
Some operational challenges are already getting in the way - the NAS only supports SMB 1, which is being deprecated by both Microsoft and Apple, and the TLS mode it uses (with https) is outdated, which likely will require keepng an old browser version around to administer the NAS.
That said, I still use mine. But I only use it as a secondary backup (not my main backup) - its capacity is too small (and it's too slow) for me to use it as my main NAS any more.
