How to Transfer Share/Folder from one box to another

I have 2 RN102 boxes and i am looking to transfer 1 folder from box 1 to box 2. I want to do this with out using my laptop as the middle man for the data and i am new to this whole thing.

I setup the FTP and installed MonstaFTP thinking that it would let me connect to one box and download to the other box but that didn't work like i had thought.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks

  • Ok, i got it...

the original post said to setup the back-up on the receiving box. That was where the mistake was made.... it should have been a back-up coming from the sending box.

I tried resetting the permissions when doing the back-up from the receiving box... Didn't work. Once i setup the back-up from the sending box everything worked great through NFS

    So... Mission Accomplished.

    Thanks!

  • Set up a backup job in the receiving NAS.  Use either rsync or NFS (and enable that for the source share).

Ok.. the 1st attempt was working but didn't copy the entire folder. It got about 33% through and stopped. The receiving box says that the back-up was completed and i checked the log and saw no errors. Out of 1147 files only 382 were moved. I don't know if there was a quota or some setting that stopped the transfer. I have since started the back-up again to see where it ends up.

Are these boxes able to be connected together with a USB cable and have them recognize each other? If so i would probably just do that instead.

Odd.  Did you try resetting the share permissions on the source?

  • Thanks! i wasn't able to get Rsync to work but NFS is working right now. Now i guess it's time to sit back and wait.
