Issue with Disk not working with ReadyNAS device.
Model:
ReadyNAS 2100 v2 [X-RAID2]
Hi There,
I would like to get some help with an issue we're facing with a Netgear ReadyNas device. There was a disk that suddenly went death and we purchased a replacement and connected it but it still doesn't work. The disk which is Disk1 appears with a Dead status in the NetGear web console.
We want to know if this could possibly be due to that slot that it's not working since we have a third disk which is the exact same model and it's working fine.
Unfortunately this device is already out of warranty and I couldn't get any phone support earlier. Can we replace the backplane of the device or we just need to purchase a new one?
Please advice and any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Christhian R.

This is certainly possible, but I'd have to add it is unlikely.
If you can, power down the NAS and remove disk 1. Then test it in a Windows PC with vendor tools (Seatools for seagate, Lifeguard for Western Digital, ...) Also take a look at the SMART stats (if the PC can recognize the drive).
Note that Windows doesn't support the file system, so it won't mount that. But you should see the disk show up in Windows Disk Manager.
