Lack of Hard drives on HCL

As to the 4TB disks, there is only one listed on Newegg (Hitachi). Some have tried that one and some have removed some 4TB drives from the enclosures (Seagates purchased as external drives). The Seagates will not be tested as they are not intended for use in a RAID or desktop. Only bare drives available to the public will be tested. TeknoJnky did the tests of the Seagates last fall and had no problems. The ST4000DX000 which at that time was only available in an enclosure is now listed on Amazon as a bare drive for $350, but is not listed on Newegg.

Another member, put 6 Hitachi HDS724040ALE640 in his Pro Business Edition and says he is not having any problems, but this is not the drive available on Newegg (H3IK40003254SW) but is listed on Amazon by it's Hitachi PN of 0S03364 (note: Hitachi uses an opaque silvery anti-static bag with only the PN on the outside, but only the drive model on the actual drive label. Netgear uses on the drive model and sometimes if they are advised, they will put the PN in the comment block. For example the HDS5C3030ALA640 is available under three different PNs, one for retail packaging and two for OEM bare drive packaging.
