Links to instructions for installing TrueNAS with front panel display capability on some ReadyNAS
For those looking to install an alternate OS on their RN42x, 52x, or 62x unit, here is a link to some very good instructions on installing TrueNAS Scale: https://www.reddit.com/r/truenas/comments/1o...

Sooner than expected: the first test for the 528X/628X is up, and it's the safe kind. It reads the GPIO registers and watches them for a minute, writes nothing, and can't touch the front-board MCU. Fine to run on a main unit, any OS including stock OS6.
Instructions are in the tracking issue: https://github.com/riplatt/truenas-rn426-panel/issues/10
Sandshark, if you get a chance on either box, that output (plus the DSDT file it mentions) is what decides whether the write-capable stages are safe to build. Pressing a panel button once during the trace confirms the interrupt line as a bonus.
