mount-block-root-25e boot error after power cut
Hi all,
Our NAS just died with the mount-block-root-25e error, following a power cut.
I've managed to make a USB boot device, but it doesn't boot from this either.
Can anyone suggest a USB stick they *know works*? Probably my last try before I consider it bricked.
Thanks
I had this same problem and i was trying to reload software on multiple usb drives and nothing was working. Then while searching on the netgear community for a solution, someone mentioned to run the USB software as administrator. So, I plugged in my USB drive right clicked the usb exe file and clicked on run as administrator and reformatted drive. I reinstalled the recovery software and tried loading from usb and it worked. Im not sure if running as administrator made a difference but as soon as I did that, the nas was able to recover from usb. Hopefully this works for anyone with the same issues.

Welcome to the Community!
You may want to try using 1GB to 4GB Flash drives. There are times that it chooses USB drives so setting up a few might be best.

I have had luck with some older Lexar "Twist/Turn" 2GB ones, which are probably not even availble anywhere, even on legacy machines (which are even more particular). A cheap 8GB I bought on eBay also worked the one time I tried it.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions.
I had tried ~20+ USB drives and none worked (I bought 5 more of varying sizes to check).
Installed the recovery software as administrator, and the second one worked (a 8G SanDisk).
Kudos to MCJCALVI80 that was lifesaving!
Thanks to everyone for their replies, appreciate it.
Now - back to rinsing some very loud music!
