-Mixing disk models (with same capacity) on a v1 Duo is perfectly fine.
-I understand the temptation to use normal green drives in a NAS - and I have done it. My results were mixed, and I don't do it any more. The extra 5€ would have gotten you a drive tuned for NAS use, and a three-year warranty instead of the 1 year you got with the WD20EARS. (BTW, I'm a bit surprised you could find a WD20EARS, most on-line suppliers in the US don't have them anymore).
Since this is a new disk purchase, maybe you could look into an exchange with the seller?
