NAS Connection Problem
1. I noticed that my backups from my PC (W11 latest up date - but this started with W10)) to my Netgear ReadyNAS 314 or 316 were failing. The program (Synchback Free) reported that the connection tim...

File not found. I've had this for a good while but it used to work with no problems. If I just needed to find the files, I could click on the Logo in the right panel. You'll notice both NAS boxes are displayed. They both immediately display the file folders. The only real problem is that whatever is causing the file folders to dispay an error causes the backup to fail. I am sure there is some very odd setting or registry setting that I've screwed up at some point but somehow windows corrects it after a while. Would the event viewer give any clues? maybe a service not running that starts as a result of something else running. The only thing I know for sure is that it can be performing correctly and will until I restart the system.

Are you saying that's the message when you enter \\nas-ip-address in the address bar? If so, are you sure you entered it correctly? You weren't access a file, so this would be a very unusual error.
Normally I'd expect a different error - something like "Windows cannot access \\nas-ip-address".
I don't think this is registry problem - that wouldn't explain why it works initially, but later fails.
Another thing you could try is pinging the NAS IP address, and see if that works when if fails. You might also try rebooting the NAS (accessing it from the NAS web ui) instead of restarting the PC, and see if that also restores service.

If I just put \\192.168.1.21 I get file not found as it shows file:\\192.168.1.21. If I put http:\\192.168.1.21 I get the admin login to the device. Same as I'd get by pressing the admin button on RAIDar.

I do see "file" if I enter this in my browser. But not if I use the file explorer address bar

Sorry I took so long to get back. Got sick and was under the weather for a few days.
1. I had not carefully read your response. I did try the IP in the file explorer window and the files come up fine.
2. I signed onto one of the boxes and rebooted. That didn't bring it back. Still no good on the lower left panel of file explorer.
3. Only other clue that I thought is that I do not restart the PC unless there is a real problem but Windows Update does. And that's where I figured out that whatever is happening is as a result of a restart. Then it takes a couple of days for it to come back to normal so maybe something that runs in the task scheduler starts a service or something that "fixes" my problem. I will have to keep some additional ,notes of the times off and on. Maybe the event viewer would have some clues but it is a bit geeky for me.
