Netgear DUO admin site ??
I've had this NASdrive for years and it has worked well - I renewed the discs 1 time - nice ! I had it running under Windows 10 for most of the years - but had the problem that I could NOT get ac...
I sometimes just run the RAIDAR program
It'd be helpful to know if you have the original Duo, or if you have the Duo v2.
The original Duo
- says ReadyNAS Duo on the front panel and in RAIDar
- runs 4.1.x firmware (RAIDar should tell you that)
The v2
- says ReadyNAS Duo v2 on the front panel and in RAIDar
- runs 5.3.x firmware
the NAS is still assigned 192.168.1.2
Then you can access the NAS web ui using https://192.168.1.2/admin. But you need to use Firefox, and set security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).
If you don't recall the admin password, the default for the original Duo is netgear1. The default for the v2 is password.
I used the 'name' \\192.168.1.2\media" to get access in Windows 11 ... and in fact it worked for 3-4 days
It'll be easier to sort this out after you get admin access.
I remember I had never had access to the administrator site before !
You should have (and you should log in as admin from time to time to make sure the NAS is still operationing correctly).
but after resetting the network it wont work
Let's start here.
- What exactly did you do to "reset the network"?
- Is the network still using 192.168.1.x addresses?
- Is the NAS still assigned address 192.168.1.2?

I can't remember when my access to the admin site stopped ... I sometimes just run the RAIDAR program to see if the NAS is still OK.
I'll answer you Q's here:
add 1) I just used the Windows key for resetting the network.
add 2) My router is set up as DHCP server to manage the pc's in the network and too the NAS
add 3) Yeah the NAS is still assigned 192.168.1.2 and I used the 'name' \\192.168.1.2\media" to get access in Windows 11 ... and in fact it worked for 3-4 days until I used the reset network key in Windows 11
I used the reset network key hoping it could solve the problems I have with the security settings to get macros to work in Excel/Word ... they are driving my in sane /&%(/(/%/&%¤%&%%#¤ !
I would be very happy if you could help me get my head around these NAS problems :-)

It’s an original ReadyNAS DUO, firmware 4.1.16Great. The simplest way to access the admin web ui is to stick with FireFox (and that setting change). There is one other way -modifying the NAS to allow you to use http (unencrypted) instead of https. But that does require use of the linux command line. Is that somethings you have experience with?
now it asks for credentials to get access !!!!
There are a couple of things to check here.
The first is to go into "Turn Windows Features on or off" and make sure that the SMB 1/CIFS client is enabled.
As schumaku says, the other thing we need to change is to not use guest access to access the NAS.
To do that you need to either tell Windows to use the NAS admin account, or create a new user account on the NAS. Both will work, but the new user account is a bit safer. You could (for example) create a new user account called Duo, and create a password for it. Although this screenshot is from a different firmware branch, I think your NAS has the same screen:
Either way, you then need to create a windows credential for the NAS in the Windows Credential manager.
Enter the credential for the IP address, using your NAS account name (admin, or the new account you created), and the password for that account.
I don't know for sure if "Media" is a share on your NAS. So enter \\192.168.1.2 in the address bar of File Explorer after you done these steps. You should then see a list of your shares in File Explorer, and you should be able to browse them. Be careful to use the correct slash (\\, not //).
