Netgear ReadyNAS RNDU4000 Reports Channel 2 not available
Disk status telling me that Channel 2 is missing. Swapping around the disks does not move the issie so its not the disk itself. Disk on Channel 2 powersup and spins up but nothing more. What can...

I fixed it!
Took it all apart and resoldered the SATA-port on channel 2. Reassembled and now it works!
Port was tweaked a little bit. Might have been me but could also been someone else. I bought it used.
But isnt it supposed to have a fan at the power supply? There was no fan in there. It had a empty slot for a fan.
Has someone removed it? The only fan is the big one for the disks.

Seems to be a known issue!
Not sure what you mean by that, but bays do occasionally fail. I don't think there's a pattern that suggests a design flaw.

Maybe there is a used PCB i can replace it with if its the controller card that is bad.
You probably won't find a standalone used system board (or SATA backplane) - more likely you'd have to purchase a full used NAS.
Note that if you plan to migrate drives to the replacement, there are several options. Any 4-6 bay Ultra, Ultra Plus, or Pro will work.
You could also go with an x86 OS-6 model (RN300, 400, or 500 series). That would give you a newer chassis. But you couldn't directly migrate your disks - you'd need to restore data from a backup (or get new disks, and copy over the network).
Note Netgear won't support used equipment, and the warranty is not transferrable.

Has someone removed it? The only fan is the big one for the disks. The 4-bay legacy NAS haven't had a PSU fan since the early Infrant NV. The high pitch of the tiny fan that once was in that location was quite annoying, so they removed it and added the plastic shield and the "grate" area that route air from the case fan through the PSU. Since the PSU is just a modified standard Flex ATX (aka micro ATX) supply, they likely just decided to not go to the expense of having their supplier re-tool the case since it's absence isn't noticable from the outside. Thus, the empty spot for a fan.
If it were to have a fan there, it would blow straight into the rear panel, so do nothing. The original NV had a hole there for the fan to exhaust through. I've used a standard supply with the pin-out modified and left the fan in, re-mounting the supply slightly back farther. But if I were to do it again, I'd look for one with a similar enough case that I could swap out the top cover of the PSU and disconnect the fan.
