It is great. I've been waiting for this a long time too.
With the 10GBASE-T ports the performance is amazing. With 8-bays and high capacity disks on the market you can have massive data volumes too.

Not in this announcement anyway. The RN100 seems to be disappearing from retail inventories, so it looks like the entry NAS might end up the RN21x.
I am wondering if there will be a 32x platform in the future, or if 42x will simply replace RN3xx. MSP for the RN42x looks pretty close to RN31x pricing.
It is nice that all these run the same OS, so the headaches of migrating between OS 4.1, OS 4.2, OS 5.x are going away. Plus these introductions don't leave anyone behind, as RN1xx, RN51x, RN20x all still get the firmware updates.

I would guess that putting too many bays in a lower powered cpu device, would leave performance somewhat lacking especially when volumes can grow so huge.
Also I would think for economic reasons, they would want to keep the larger units at the upper end of the price/performance range.
Otherwise, people would most often buy the cheapest, canabilizing the higher end sales, while also experiencing the poorer performance and not getting a good experience.

I agree overall, though the RN3xx is lower performance than the RN4xx, and of course it does have a 6 bay model. Though disks have gotten significantly bigger since the 316 was launched.
They have been cranking out a lot of desktop platforms over the past few months ( rn4xx plus 524x, 526x, 528x, 624x, 626x, 628x), so they likely were maxed out. There could be more 4xx platforms introduced later.
