What errors were reported for the disk?
It does sound like a bad disk. You could hook the disk up to a PC and test it using SeaTools if you want.

Yes, The disk reported two errors - "High reallocated sector count" and "high uncorrectable error count"

Also, the power light on the NAS is now blinking in a double blink fashion-IE. blink, blink, pause - blink, blink, pause - etc. The disk led (on the failed disk) is blinking continuously.
What does the blink blink, pause mean?

I tried checking but we do not seem to have the LED pattern legend for the new ReadyNAS units.
Were you able to finish the test being requested? It should give us more information about the status of the HDD compared to the LED pattern.

I do not have a PC available to test the HDD. I am going to return it and request a replacement drive.
I am still wondering about the LED pattern error.
