That is a good point. For benchmarking performance large files tend to be used e.g. a multiple GB file (want to use something several times the amount of RAM and that will take a while to copy to eliminate caching etc.). Then there's different methods you can use (e.g. Frontview backup or for optimal performance using the command line).
With small files (perhaps what you'd see in real world) performance is going to be very much slower than with large files. With mechanical hard disks 4k random/read write rates are very, very slow compared with dealing with large files.
