PCIe x4 expansion issues
So I have been working on replacing the ReadyNAS os with FreeNAS and have gotten stuck on one thing... the PCIe x4 slot. The process to install FreeNAS on my ReadyNAS Pro (6 drive) is fairly simple...

Well since I stubbornly proceeded with this project I went and got a new MoBo, CPU, and RAM. It physically fit in the box (with some longer standoffs) and works fine unless I plug in the ReadyNAS backplane/RAID card. So I think it is confirmed that they do indeed use a custom pinout.
If anyone is interested in trying this focus on finding drivers for the readyNAS USB/NIC PCIe x4 card instead of following my path of trying to use hardware known to be compatible. The only other solution is to figure out the custom pinout from netgears unit and make an adapter cable.
