Power supply failure and replacement on NVX

Hi All,

Just wanted to share my recent experience of a failure of a NVX. After several years of good service I came home to find a dead NVX . Seemed to be the power supply as it had nothing working at all.

I managed to get the unit powered up by replacing the power supply with a standard ATX power supply (I had a 400W unit lying around). I had to make the modification outlined in the pdf available at
http://www.readynas.com/download/archiv ... pinout.pdf

The actual unit power supply looks like it is available at
http://www.newpowersupply.com/250w_repl ... -1439.html

I think it needs the mod to use this as it still a standard ATX supply.

Taking of the back screws and removing the fan gives access to the ATX connector.

Was able to do this to get the unit up and running. Will now try to make sure my data is ok and then migrate to a new 314. Unfortunately this will mean new hard disks as I don't have an intermediate storage to fit.

Anyway hope this helps someone.
:D
