Pro 2 CPU Temperature
I just bought a Pro 2 this weekend. I have 2 3TB disks in RAID 1 configuration with RAIDiator 4.2.22. The temperatures from the Status|Health tab are:
Disk 1 42C/107F
Disk 2 39C/102F
CPU 76C/168F [Normal 0-80C/32-176F]
System 31C/87F [Normal 0-65C/32-149F]
The fan speed is 1167 RPM.
(I also own a NV+ and the disk and system temperatures are similar. That fan, of course, is running much higher.)
The CPU temperature is usually between 70C and this recent high of 76C. I am concerned the CPU is so running so close to its maximum. Should I be concerned, and what can I do/check?
Thanks for any help.

- readyhomeAspirantCPU to 70C/158F (its usual reading)

Fan 846RPM - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIf the system gets to hot one would think the fan would speed up. I wouldn't be too concerned unless the safe temperatures are exceeded.

Fan 1261RPM
I've not seen the CPU go below 70C.
I understand and appreciate your adivce, but given the max stated range of 80C, 76C is disconcerting. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGive support a call and see what they have to say. They should have a Pro 2 system running 4.2.22 they could compare your temps with.
- readyhomeAspirantExcellent idea, thanks. They told me to reflash 4.2.22. If the temp doesn't go down, flash 4.2.21. If still high, call back. I'll report back what happens.
- readyhomeAspirantRMA. Spent some time with support and he was excellent. The upshot is he had a Pro 2 with a CPU temperature of 40C and I am steady between 70-76C. A new Pro 2 will be on the way.
A question: When the new one comes and I install my current disks, will I lose all the data currently on the drives? I suspect the answer is yes, but if anyone has an idea of how to insert them and be up and running, I'd appreciate hearing it.
Thanks to mdgm for his replies and Kostia for his help. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee Retiredhttp://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_migrate_disks_over_from_an_existing_readynas_to_another
If you have a spare disk (not from your array) put that in the replacement Pro 2, power up the replacement Pro 2, update the firmware, verify update successful, power down, remove spare disk, then migrate disks across. - readyhomeAspirantThank you.
