Proper way to eject USB Drive
Hello,
I am using the drag/drop feature in the UI to copy folders/files from several ReadyNAS shares to my USB connected external hard drive and everything is working fine. When I am done, what is the proper way to eject the USB drive safely? I noticed that there is an Auto Eject selection if I were to create a back up job but I am not able to find the process on how to do for my situation.
Thanks everyone for your help,
Terry
There should be a settings wheel next to the volume/drive on the system->overview page on the web ui, that has an "eject" control.
I'm not sure if you actually have a rack-mount RN2120 (many RN212 owners will select that by mistake). The RN212 has a backup button on the front panel. If you press that for 10 seconds and let go, the USB drive should also be ejected (personally I'd hold it for a bit longer, just to be sure). The RN2120 doesn't have a backup button, so that method doesn't apply to that model.
Here's a (very old) screenshot showing the eject function:

Hi Stephen,
Thanks again for the great education! I have the ReadyNAS 214 Desktop that has 4 x 2 TB drives. The screen shot you provided is exactly what I see on my end and I was able to find the eject selection in the Settings.
Really appreciate you help on this as I did not want to just pull the plug and endanger corrupting data.
Thanks and all the best,
Terry
I'm glad I could help. :smileyhappy:
