Ready NAS RN10400 will not power up **DEAD**

My Rady NAS died recntly.  I was away from home when it happened.  All of a sudden I just could not access it remotely.  When I got home, there were no lights on it, and none of the drives or fan was on.  When I try to turn it on, the top row of the LCD display lights up all squares only for as long as I hold the power button in.  No fan spin, no drive spin.  Has anyone seen this?  I hope my data is still on my drives.  Almost seems like a power supply issue or something.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • If you are covered by the hardware warranty (3 years for the original purchaser) then you should contact support.

      Hi Beer4Cheer,

      Welcome to the community! :)

Let us isolate the problem.  Kindly answer the questions below:

      a. Have you tried to plug your NAS to other AC outlet(s) then check if it will boot up just fine?

      b. Pull-out the drives from your NAS.  Be sure to label the drives from which bay you have pulled it out.  Then, try to turn on the NAS without drives.  Did your NAS turn on without any drives inside?

      c. Is there a burning smell coming from your NAS?

      d. Was there a power outage that happened where the NAS is deployed?

      e. Do you have a backup of your data stored in your NAS to another external drive or to another NAS?

If ever that your NAS won't really boot up, I advise you to open an online case with NETGEAR Support at anytime.  State the condition of your NAS for further assistance.  If ever the NAS chassis is found faulty, then please be ready to submit a soft copy of the Proof of Purchase or Sales Invoice of your device for warranty verification via the online case you have opened.  If the hardware warranty is still valid, then an online replacement will follow.

      Regards,
