ReadyNAS 102 Bug list.
- Disk usage is reported incorrectly by GUI
- Disk usage graph is not reported correctly and does not match incorrecly or correclty reported actual usage number.
- Alert email configuration can not be changed after installation. Not sure where it gets the address or mail type from??? Does not work due to incorrect information. No way to "Save" changes.
- Multiple backups show "in progress". Only one backup should ever be "in progress" at a time.
- NFS performance was terrible until I manually added "async" to the nfs export, but new shares are performing well now without the addtion. Not sure if reboots solved the problem?
- Edits to backup source or destination causes GUI to show plain text password and corrupted field entries.
- Backup schedule does not work. All backups are run starting at midnight.

- pantatechnicsAspirantFirmware version : 6.1.3
I enabled the Antivirus real time scan & configured some squeduled scans after midnight when the nas is idle.
A Netgear enginnear suggested me not to use the real time antivirus because the rn102 data transfer slows down,
so i dissabled the real time scan, but the squeduled scans dissabled too.
The squeduled scans (if configured, must be kept enabled even if the real time protection is dissabled.
Hope the new firmware correct this. - pantatechnicsAspirantI made a backup job.
This job copy data from a shared folder at my Pc to a share at my readynas Rn102.
After the backup finished successfully the backup panel still display this job "In Progress"
This is a 6.1.3 bug
PS.
Lately I don't see others have problems or report bugs.
Am i the one i have all these bugs ?
:? - MindjoggerAspirantRN102 does not play any movie.
Support chat told me, this is a HW limitation.
Only possible with 300 or 500.
Chat:
Start was: I can not play any movie via the Plex
Rene: Anyway it seems that this has already been raised and we have an answer about it.
Rene: The RN102 does not support transcoding.
Rene: It only starts with RN300 series and 500 series.
Rene: So this is more like a hardware limitation.
Me: This is not a good news.
Rene: You may need to upgrade to another unit if you want HD movies be read.
Rene: Like an RN30200. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWell you can play HD movies with Plex on the 102, as long as they don't require transcoding.
Can you post (or pm) the mediainfo for one of the movies that fails? (www.videohelp.com/tools/mediainfo) - pantatechnicsAspirant

Well this is not an answear from a Netgear representative.
Why netgear produse a new series product like RN102 which is not support movie transcoding ?
It had to had the right hardware to do so.
Why i have to Upgrade ? To pay more money for another unit ?
I had a Zyxel NAS before and i had not any kind of such issues.
It is unbeleaveable to read a suggestion like " You may need to upgrade to another unit if you want HD movies be read"
The RN102 is a product of the latest range of Netgear Nas...
It is a shame for netgear as a company.... - pantatechnicsAspirantI have to mention a new bug at version 6.1.4.
I recently do a defragmentation, at my RN102, after some time, it lost the connection with my pc and can not reconnect.
To connect again i must cut the power and replug again. After the connection lost i can not shut down my nas only if unplug the power.
The first time i did this when it powered on it did a volune rebuild.
I tried to defrag second time with the same resault... :( - praveenvergheseAspirantI have the same issue with defrag. The NAS device hangs after an hour of defragmentation process. Had reported it to netgear support, they asked me to re-install the OS, did that and the problem still persists, its definitely a bug with version 6.1.4
-Praveen - praveenvergheseAspirantdefrag issue is now fixed with firmware 6.1.7
- mrdAspirantI started this thread quite some time ago and now I made the unfortunate descision to buy another 102, hoping that things had gotten better. :?
They haven't.
I can't get NFS to work at all and rsync won't allow me to enable the password option on each share.
I've posted about the rsnc problem elsewhere, but maybe someone knows how to get NFS to work?
I've tried all of the things that used to work find on the Duo and also added the /data to the path.
Thanks! - mrdAspirantFYI... showmount takes over 3 minutes.
