ReadyNas 102 no longer accessible

I (unfortunately) have a ReadyNas 102, and it's no longer talking to my computer.

Yesterday my network drives to the RN suddenly stopped working. Trying to access the drive through the browser, it rejects my password, though it takes a few minutes to actually pop up with the password request screen. I did the password reset through the web portal (pressing the reset button on the back), but it's not accepting the new default password nor the old one, trying to access the mapped drive doesn't work, and it doesn't appear if I try to map it again. Now, the web portal just takes a couple of minutes, then asks for my password again.

I feel like all of these problems have become so much harder to resolve since Netgear left us out in the cold.

So, any ideas?

It's connected via cable to my router, and the router is showing it as connected.

  • Update - I can finally get the admin page to work.  Looks like the problems are due to the device having lost the volumes.  I'll plug the drives into another computer to investigate.  The RN also reported a stack of ATA errors, of course no idea if it's the drive or RN at fault yet.

Download the log zip file first from the logs page.  There are clues in there, and it is best to capture the logs before the errors rotate out of them.

Did your NAS experience an unexpected power cut?  If not, did you do an unclean shutdown?

Inactive volumes can be a result of failed disks, but also can be a result of the volume being out-of-sync due to lost (cached) writes.
