ReadyNAS 104 eSATA attachment procedure

Hello all,

I'm still struggling with the eSATA attachment to my ReadyNAS 104.

I'm running 6.4.1 RC1 firmware level.

I already addressed this issue to the community when running 6.2 firmware:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/ReadyNAS-Hardware-Compatibility/ReadyNAS-104-OS6-2-ESATA-attachment-procedure/m-p/961335#M12722

With 6.4.1 RC1 it's working more reliable but I'm still not happy with it.

The only procedure to attach my external TAURUS RAID is to do the following:

  1. ReadyNAS up and running, TAURUS RAID powered off
  2. remove the eSATA cable from the TAURUS RAID but leave it connected to the ReadyNAS
  3. power on the TAURUS RAID
  4. when the TAURUS RAID is online, connect the eSATA cable to it
  5. both, the TAURUS RAID and the ReadyNAS recognize that there's an eSATA connection:
    ReadyNAS reports: external device connected
    TAURUS RAID enables eSATA interface

No other procedure is working. If I leave the eSATA cable connected to the ReadyNAS and the TAURUS RAID and then power on the TAURUS RAID, the external device is not connected and the eSATA interface on the TAURUS RAID is not getting activated.

Is this how it should work?

One more thing not related to this thread: who can help me with the forum user IDs? I figured out I'm having 2 user IDs here.

Any chance to merge them?

Thanks and regards ... Holger

      Hello StephenB,

sending a private message to KennethL failed because the ID does not allow private messages.

      Thanks,

      Holger

Sorry - I just learned he's no longer at Netgear.  PM mdgm instead, he can pass it on to the right person.
