ReadyNAS 104 freezing up overnight
Hi All,
I have a readynas 104 that's connected to a server running Bacula bacula software. Bacula treats the NAS share as virtual tape and stores the backup catalogues to it.
Ages back when we first bought the NAS (1 of 3), it worked well enough but then it started hanging randomly during the night. The power light would be on as would the hard disk lights but it would not respond to web access to the GUI and pushing the power button didn;t wake it up. The only way to recover it was to pull the power lead and plug it back in.
The NAS has 4 2TB WD Red drives which test out OK. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it.
Cheers,
Julian

- AndrewT1AspirantHi ..
Used to have problems with my 104 locking up , but with the lasted version of software I have not had any problem !
Which software version do you have installed ? any additional apps ?
Andrew - vandermerweMasterAlso:
How did you test the drives?
How full is the volume on the 104?
Have you got continuous protection and COW enabled on the shares on the 104? - JulianPBAspirantHi All,
Manufacturer's software for drive testing, no additional apps and a single virtual tape file of about 200GB which is appended to daily in 5GB blocks. Bit rot protection is on and daily snapshot was on but I've disabled that as of about 5 minutes ago.. - vandermerweMasterI would disable cow and continuous protection and see what happens overnight.
- JulianPBAspirantSo far so good. Disabled the snapshot last night but left COW on and this morning it's still running. Have disabled COW and will monitor it for the next week.
Thanks all,
JPB
