Have you tried NAS to OneDrive only, just to see if that works? If it does, then try changing it to bi-directional after the files are uploaded.

Hi Sandshark,
thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, regardless of the sync-direction I'm not even able to specify the cloud path (clicking on it to fill immediately opens the folder dialog that in turn raises the error message).So it's not syncing that fails, but the creation of the session beforehand.

That is odd. I previously had no OneDrive backup set up and went in and created one without a hitch. It sounds a bit like a credentials issue, but I don't understand how you'd even get that far if that was it.
