Readynas 214 shut Down for high temp

What are your typical disk temps?
Any possibility of a brownout?

These are pretty typical. These are what it has been running all day, since i rebooted. Fan is set on cool, so constantly running fast.
Are these good usual temps.
Nothing should have been using the drives at the time they stopped.
Brownouts could be a possibility but noone in the house noticed anything.
StephenB So after a couple of weeks, i got the idea of what is causing the issue. it seems to be immediately after the defrag completes (not sure why I posted nothing was using drives above, I guess I forgot). It also appears that all the disk drives get too hot. Originally I had a scheduled rclone doing something at 2 on wednesdays, but I moved that to thursdays. The problem stayed on Wednesday.
Why are you defragmenting so often? Frankly, I don't defrag my NAS at all. Its effect on a RAID volume is far less than on a single drive, especially when using COW, and it's not like I execute programs from it or it contains a swap file used externally.
I do defrag mine every 4 months, though I agree it is only rarely needed. It doesn't seem to do any harm on my systems, so I've just kept it in the maintenance task rotation.
I get the "don't do that if it breaks your system" advice, but I am puzzled on why the defrag takes so long, and what exactly is generating the high temp. The last one I ran completed in less than 15 minutes.
I am thinking you might want to try running the disk test from the volume settings wheel, and see if the temps also rise that way. Maybe try checking it every 15 minutes or so, and if you see it approach the shutdown threshold then shutdown the NAS for a bit and let it cool off. The shutdown should also cancel the test.
