ReadyNAS 314, WD Red 4TB, storage/redundancy?
Hi
I looking at purchasing a ReadyNAS 314 for home use, and plan to use a WD Red 4TB drive. I plan to use the default X-RAID2 set-up, which I understand with one drive will give me 4TB of storage with no redundancy. I plan to purchase additional WD Red 4TB drives over the next 3 months (1 a month) - limited on cash flow to buy all in one go!
I understand that when I place the 2nd drive in the NAS, this will keep me with 4TB storage but with redundancy, is this correct?
What storage/redundancy do I get when I add in the 3rd and then the 4th drive?
Finally, and I right in understanding that using the X-RAID2 system, that all I have to do is install the additional drives, and the NAS will adjust the volume and storage/redundancy available on the NAS? So, therefore, no additional setting/configuration required by myself.
Thanks.
Jonathan
