ReadyNAS 316 reacts slowly, slower than an old ReadyNAS NVX

Hi,

I have two ReadyNAS

1.) ReadyNAS NVX

2.) ReadyNAS 316

Although the 316 is much younger and not the full of data yet, it is still much slower in showing the content of a directory or copying data than the old NAS NVX. When copying bigger files from my iMac to the 316, nearly no other activity is possible. The NAS seems too busy. Both NAS are in the same network and are connected via the same switch (GS116E).

The 316 has been setup with new harddrives just in mid 2017.

Anyone an idea what to check?

Thanks

    Welcome to the community!

Which firmware is on each unit?

    Which services are you running?

    Which add-ons/apps are you running?

Which protocol are you using to access the NAS from your Macs?

On current ReadyNAS OS 6 firmware under System > Settings > Services, if you click on the SMB button there is an option to "Enhance MacOS". This enables some samba features which should amongst other things improve SMB directory listing performance.

      Thanks!

      316:

      Firmware 6.9.2

Services: SMB, AFP, NFS, FTP, iTumes, ReadyDLNA, UPnP, HTTP, HTTPS, Virus protection, File search

Apps: Milestone Acru Surv., Resilio Sync

Protocol which MAC: mainly SMB but also AFP (is not faster)

      NVX Pioneer

      Firmware 4.2.31

Services: CIFS, AFP, HTTP, HTTPS, Bonjour, UPnP

      Apps: none

Protocol which MAC: mainly SMB but also AFP (is not faster)

I enabled the "Enhance MacOS", which seemed to have an effect on showing the directory, but still seems slower than the other!

Opening a new 2MB JPG in Finder's Viewer takes often 4-6s!

If you disable anti-virus (just for testing) on the NAS how does that impact the performance?
