readynas 628 Raid 10 capacity expansion
Hi all,
I generally use raid 10 for my Nas drives for speed and redundancy. I'm looking to purchase a readynas 628x 8 bay Nas. If I purchase 2 drives with the 628x... Can O add another matching pair later to expand the raid capacity? Or in raid 10, would I require erasing the raid and recreating it to incorporate the new drives?
Thanks

You need a minimum of 4 drives to start RAID-10 on the 628X. If you will be starting with two HDDs it will be configured on X-RAID as RAID1 and will be expanded to RAID 5 once you added your new drives.
You have to recreate the array and change configuration to Flex-RAID once you have the required number of hard drives to configure RAID 10
What is Flex-RAID
How do I change to a different RAID levelHope this helps!
