ReadyNas and USB Audio DAC
Hello,
Is there someone around here who tried to add an USB Audio DAC to the readynas ? The purpose of this device would be to listen my music stored on my readynas directly on my HiFi system, without using any computer. (Here an example of USB DAC : http://www.musicalfidelity.com/products/V-Series/V-DAC/V-DAC.asp)
Obviously, to reach this goal, i need :
- hardware : the USB DAc, which will transform digital files into analog music
- software : a deamon/application to "play" my music files on the DAC (ideally, this daemon/app would be remotely controlled by a web interface / a client app on my tablet android powered)
Any advices ?

- sphardy1ApprenticeIf you're considering a DAC then it is reasonable to assume you are looking for very good quality sound and most people using such devices tend not to want a noisy NAS sitting immediately next to their audio equipment.
You should look at something like the Logitech Touch which can act as a controller between NAS and DAC, and is a well tested method of achieving what you desire, including control possibilities, streaming directly from you NAS and more which you haven't specified.
Sonos is another manufacturer of such equipment - zakapatulAspirantThank sphardy for your quick answer :)
Actually, i would like to reduce the number of peripherals in my system, so the perspective to add another "box" goes against this principle... And if i plan to spend a few euros buying a DAC, a squeezebox touch would "explode" my budget :/
From my point of view, ReadyNas is always on, so it's a very good candidate to feed the DAC.
I don't worry about the Nas noise, because i'm not sure i'll be able to hear it with my volume system ;)
If "feeding" a DAC directly with the readynas remotely controlled is not possible, i'll probably consider buying a media gateway like squeezebox and others... But for now, i'm really interested by what i could do with the NAS itself.
