ReadyNAS appears to boot by itself
Yesterday I took my ReadyNAS Pro Business offline for a careful dust-cleaning. Since booting up fifteen hours ago, it has run a boot cycle every few hours. Here's the Log screen:
Tue Sep 2 06:09:18 PDT 2014 System is up.
Tue Sep 2 00:07:26 PDT 2014 System is up.
Mon Sep 1 23:35:37 PDT 2014 System is up.
Mon Sep 1 15:15:12 PDT 2014 System is up.
Mon Sep 1 15:12:22 PDT 2014 System is up.
Mon Sep 1 15:08:11 PDT 2014 Volume scan found no errors.
Mon Sep 1 14:30:18 PDT 2014 Powering off device
I'm not sure what I need to do. It was purchased in 2009 and has never acted this way before.
Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe warranty is 5 years, so it is conceivable you still have coverage.
I suggesting downloading all the logs, so you can also look for temperatures, fan indications, etc. Perhaps also look real-time at the "health" screen in frontview. - Blues11LuminaryYour response mentioned fan indications. That made me click on the Fan Recalibrate button. It's been more than 24 hours since then and the system appears to be operating fine. Obviously I'll keep an eye on it, but all seems well.
Thank you for your reply. - SandsharkSenseiThat can be an early sign of a failing power supply. If it does go and you are out of warranty, a replacement is available. There are a couple of threads about it.
- Blues11LuminaryOK. I've decided to purchase a replacement power supply for my ReadyNAS Pro Business (6350), but the link I found from an April 2014 post to a newegg power supply for the Pioneer ( https://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=76183 ) doesn't appear to be the same as the one in my NAS.
Can someone verify that this ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151089 ) unit is the right one or send a link to the right replacement power supply and any additional parts?
Thank you. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Pro BE and Pro Pioneer share the same hardware. So if a replacement PSU works with the Pro Pioneer I see no reason why it shouldn't work with the Pro BE.
- Blues11LuminaryThe back of my ReadyNAS has an upper larger fan and the lower smaller fan that is part of the power supply. This smaller fan extends perhaps half inch out from the back. Included on the back (at the lower right corner) are the power switch and the (female) power socket.
In the unit referenced at newegg the fan is on one surface of the power supply and the switch and socket are on another side.
How can this be used to replace the original?
(I have photos, but I don't know how to upload them.) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredLooks like there is one review there from a Pro BE user.
It's possible the image is wrong, or that the part number has stayed the same with a change in design or something else.
The reviewer did mention an extension cable is needed to get it to work with the Pro.
You can paste the forum code from an image sharing website. - Blues11LuminaryI thought there was a way to upload images. Here's a link to the two images. https://secure.flickr.com/photos/128093014@N08/15139756317/in/photostream/
I've contacted Netgear about a replacement power supply, but have not yet heard anything. I'm not hopeful that it will be a viable solution. We'll see.
Thanks for your help. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThis works a bit better.
