ReadyNAS Device Compatibility List

I know this conversation has gone in circles for a few years, and I have tried to follow it, but could somebody offer an opinion on whether the ReadyNAS 1100 works with RE4-GP (02FYPS) drives? A major merchant in this corner of the world is suggesting that, and I just cannot find any clarity in these forums. Did RAIDiator 4.1.7 solve the problems? Has Netgear stopped chasing this b/c the 1100 is no longer in production? Was it only ever a problem with high LCC that did not bother most users? Is there a WD firmware issue? (Noting that the 2100 is approved for use with RE4-GP WD2002FYPS only with firmware > 4.05G05)
