I didn't realize that drive was enterprise class, thank you for pointing that out! That does mean that there's at least one currently available enterprise drive certified, which makes me feel a bit better.

Ironically, though, did you see the reviews you linked to? One person had 2 out of 10 DOA. Another had 3 out of 4! :shock: On the other hand, the WD RE4-GP and Constellation 2TB seem to have complaints about drive failures as well.

I still have some concern about the recent silence from the Jedi council. As Masika points out, the compatibility list is quite out of date, with many of the drives no longer available.

I definitely appreciate their conservative approach to certifying drives and I understand that it can take a while for a drive to get certified. But a year ago they were much more communicative about testing the WD enterprise drives and the problems they encountered. And we heard from Han Solo in November about qualifying current enterprise-class drives in the following weeks, but it's been complete radio silence since then.

Jedi? Any update? Could you at least tell us whether (a) the drives are currently being evaluated for the Sparc systems (or are in the queue to be evaluated), (b) they won't ever be evaluated, or (c) have been evaluated and won't be approved without a fix of some kind (no matter whose)?

I'd be interested to hear about Seagate Constellations, WD RE4s, or RE4-GPs -- the 3 other enterprise drives currently qualified on Intel systems. If there's a better place to have this conversation, I'd be happy to take it elsewhere.
