That's a guide as to what you should purchase if you don't already have a router/switch. It should give you some indication of what is and isn't likely to work. It's impossible to test all the switches and routers out there. If your router/switch works fine then great.
The important things to do are to stick to the compatibility list for drives to put in your NAS; and to not upgrade the RAM in your NAS.
