ReadyNAS Device Compatibility List

1. Limit still applies to USB drives too. There is no GPT support at all on Sparc ReadyNAS.
2. It's probably a software limit. However considering the significant obstacles to adding GPT support I would say that the chances of GPT support being added would be pretty much nil. The Sparc line though still supported by firmware updates (4.1.9 is in beta) is discontinued. 3rd party development for Sparc stopped long ago. This means that development has become increasingly difficult for Sparc. NetGear still backports updates to software such as netatalk, rsync to get it working on Sparc. The amount of work required to attempt to bring GPT to Sparc with a fair chance of finding it doesn't even work would be huge. Look at how long it was between RAIDiator 4.1.6 and 4.1.7. I think that was largely due to work on getting 4k sector partition alignment working on Sparc.
