No need for the main PC to use RED drives, unless you are running RAID on it (not sure exactly what you mean by 2x1Go).
I agree they cost somewhat more than the green drives, but they are a lot cheaper than enterprise drives. And the longer warranty to some degree offsets the price differential.
As you check out your options, I suggest searching these forums for the model you are considering.
