I was in fact thinking about a RAID inside the main PC too, just in case... but it might be a bit overkill after all, a good WD Green 1/2/3GB (not decided yet) will probably be safe enough if it is backed up on the NAS something like twice a day. I'm working from home (PhD ongoing), and losing days of research is not something I want to experience ever :p.
