Seagate ST32000542AS
I installed two of the above 2TB drives in my NV+ in March 2010. By August 2011 I had claimed a warranty replacement for one of them which had failed. In August 2012 I was getting log messages saying that the other drive was failing SMART tests. However, Seagate said it was OK because the SeaTools test said so. So I put it back in and waited. It fully failed last month....by which time it was out of warranty (of course!).
BUT. If you like a happy ending read on. I politely pointed out the irony of the situation to Seagate and...they agreed to give me a warranty replacement!! Persistence and politeness can work. Let's just see how long the replacements last (although the second I'm keeping as a spare)...... Not sure how much this helps anyone since ST32000542AS are discontinued and the remaining two bays were expanded with 2TB ST2000DL003s in August 2011 and April 2012 - so far no problems.
