  • I need to get a replacement 2TB drive for my NV+ v1 in a hurry (disc just failed). My local stockist who is open tomorrow has the following in stock -
    2TB Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001
    2TB Seagate ST2000VN000 for NAS
2TB Western Digital Caviar Green WD20EZRX
    2TB Western Digital WD2003FZEX
    2TB Western Digital Red WD20EFRX
    2TB Toshiba DT01ACA200

The first and the last one are on the NV+ v1 HCL; the others are not. However the 2nd Seagate (ST2000VN000) and the WD Red are optimised for NAS which is tempting.
Any advice as to what would be the best option? (or indeed anything to avoid?). Thanks.

I'd get one of the NAS drives - personally I'd use the EFRX, but there are plenty of folks who like Seagate. I am using a WD20EFRX in my Duo V1, and it is working fine.

I'd avoid the Seagate DM and the WD EZRX. The WD green drives will work (though you may want to reset the parking threshold). But the NAS drives are a better option.
  • And a WD Red WD20EFRX is accepted quite happily by an NV+ v1, even though it is not on the HCL, initialised in a couple of hours, and is currently resyncing. So far so good....
I know the Red pros are supposed to be even more reliable, but couldn't get one of those in a hurry. Don't like being a disc down in my NAS....
  • Hi All,

It seems like it's been a very long time since the official compatibility list has been updated. Current vendors like HGST aren't even on the list at all. According to this recent report from Backblaze, HGST drives seems to be the most reliable this year:

I'm considering the same 6TB HGST NAS drives as @ZBoater, but I'm not sure want to give up ReadyNAS support by buying off the HCL.

Any word on when the HCL will be updated?

    Thanks!

My NETGEAR RND2000 V1 is full and i need to change my hard drives, (two SAMSUNG 1TB), so, is these HDD are compatible with my RND200 V1 : Western Digital Green Desktop WD20EZRX - 3.5'' SATA III IntelliPower cache 64 Mo 2 To ?
It's not on the official list (though you aren't under warranty support anyway if you purchased when you joined the forum).

I'd get the WD20EFRX instead. I use one in my duo, and have had no problems. It's intended for NAS, and has a 3 year warranty (the EZRX only has a 1 year).

Hi, I'm looking for an upgrade on my NETGEAR RND2000,
would like to get WD30EFRX does anyone know if this disk work with ReadyNas Duo V1 ?
    TIA.

The Duo V1 can't handle drives > 2 TB. So the WD30EFRX will not work.
